Hygge/Winter vibes
As the chilly season descends upon us, it’s time to transform your home into an inviting and cosy cocoon that you can hibernate in for the winter months. The Danish have mastered the art of cosiness, so much so that they’ve spawned a movement called hygge. Hygge is defined as a quality of cosiness and warmth that engenders a feeling of happiness and well-being. So, how do you go about getting some hygge into your life?
Throws and knit cushions
One of the easiest ways to get some hygge into your life is through layering and adding warm colours and textures. Layer up your couch with some seasonal cushions in rich velvets and textured knits in warm colours. This year we are seeing Teracotta, Burnt Caramel, Rust, Blush, Deeper Red and Mustard tones, make a resurgence as the Winter 2020 colour trends. Teamed with Olive Green or earthy neutrals to compliment and balance the warm colours. Drape generous throws in chunky knits and luxurious wool blends over your couches and beds to radiate a comfortable and warm space. Changing your rug over to a thicker, woollen variety can be another simple way of adding some extra warmth into your home.
Candles and tea
To get literal, actual warmth also adds some extra hygge into your space. Think warm lighting, plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and softly flickering candles. We recommend adding some extra table and floor lamps to your spaces and changing the light globes in your existing ones to be of a warmer variety, to create that relaxing atmosphere. Add in some candles, and a warm beverage to wrap your hands around, and you’ll be ready for all that winter throws at you.
