Industrial

Industrial style, as the name implies, draws inspiration from a warehouse or an urban loft in a sophisticated way.  It adds a raw, unfinished look to the most thoughtfully designed homes. It’s not uncommon to see exposed brick, duct work and wood.

High ceilings, old timber and dangling metal light fixtures with sparse functional furniture are often features of the industrial style. Abstract art or photography adds a dash of colour to an otherwise neutral colour scheme derived from the primary materials of woods and metals.

What may have started as a necessity became a sought-after style, and many design enthusiasts now specifically seek out this “unfinished” look. Many new furniture pieces and accessories are evoked by the past, while others are inspired by old factory and laboratory pieces.

Key traits: Exposed pipes through furniture, timber and tan leather, shiny, steely, with the use of magnolia branches and fiddle leaf figs, earth tones and neutrals are popular colour choices for these spaces.
